Essay regarding Dred Jeff v. Sanford

Dred Scott, an African American gentleman who was created into captivity, wanted what all slaves would have needed, their freedom. They were mistreated, neglected, and treated less humans, but as property. In 1852, Dred Scott sued his current owner, Sanford, about him, no more being a slave, but a free man (Oyez 1).
